Or, in theory, I like the idea of Fragrance republ!c, in practice though, I’m not really thrilled with the way they smell.
I received three of them (not as a paying member but as a blogger) and I admit to being rather underwhelmed. The three I received (01/02, 01/03 and 01/04) all overpowered my nose with the smell of the now standardly used, shrill, clean musks and the lovely opening all of them had was forever lost to my nose.
That said, everyone else who tried them, loved them.
Including my father who is now the proud owner of two of them. 🙂
If you’d like to know more about the general concept, Undina summed it up quite nicely.

Dear Ines, I completely agree with your point of view. I also have received a couple of them but I wasn’t in love with any. My Mum liked one so I have it to her, the others are just piling in my drawer. They’re not bad but somehow my nose finds them to be artificial-smelling…

Exactly! Artificial smelling is a good description.
Luckily our parents like them. 😉

At first I had no idea what you were talking about ( since you forgot to mention the scheme 😉 ), but then I remembered reading Undina’s post on the subject, quite a good idea, of course provided what is done is really interesting. I suppose it’s always difficult starting out with something new, perhaps the fragrances will get more exciting from now on 🙂

I certainly hope so!
As far as I could tell they employ good perfumers, I just wonder what kind of briefs are they giving them…

I found them much as you did, and was completely overwhelmed by the horrifying white musk and its synthetic sharpness. I also thought that they had a wholly commercial, mainstream, cheap feel that wouldn’t be out of place in a Sephora. Really unimpressive and unappealing, imo.

Overwhelmed – I know exactly what you mean.
But that seems to be the trend now and unfortunately, people also seem to like it. 😦

I received two, and though FR said they would continue to send me others, I never heard from them again! The mojito one I thought quite refreshing but somewhat manly, and it really works on the male friend who loves BEX London SE1 – it is in similar vein really. Then I reviewed the one with the sesame note (see – I have forgotten the numbers already – 04, maybe?), which I found good – and rather odd – in equal parts. I did think it was jolly original, and liked the idea of perfumers doing whatever they liked, but the stir fry oil sensation was a bit of a stumbling block for me.

I don’t think I tried the sesame note one, then again, after the first 5 minutes of all of them, all I could smell were the musks.
