Vacation, part 2 – Rovinj

It took much longer than I expected to get this post published. Ever since I got back from vacation, life was hectic and time to spare wasn’t to be found anywhere.Β Rovinj is beautiful. I kept taking photos from every possible side (they are not all here). πŸ™‚

Vacation time!

I feel really bad for neglecting my blog and the only thing I can post at the moment are some pics from vacation.
Some from Senj, some from Smokvica and hopefully more to follow after visits to some other places. πŸ™‚

Croatian design spotlight – Mara D

I only learned about the brand a few days ago and I was amazed by the design of the shoes.

There aren’t that many designs available but they are all done by hand out of Italian leather and seem so cool.

I mean, I can always admire high heels even though in everyday life I stick to reasonable shoes (i.e. those I can walk in all day long).

You can follow them on Facebook or check their site (don’t look at prices though).

Some of my favorites:

God, how I wish I was someone who can buy and wear these shoes…

Spring-y thoughts

It is finally real spring here. It’s warm, everything is blooming and the sun shines for most of the day (and it’s day most of the day – no more early night).

People tend to ask what is your favorite season. And even though I really love them all, I think spring is slightly my favorite. It always feels like I’m waking from hibernation, I have more energy and I have will to do many things soΒ days just fill up with fun activities. It seems everyone is more in the mood to be friendly and go out more.

I, for one, feel enthusiastic again about all the things I love doing. It seems I prefer doing them in the light of day. πŸ˜‰

Perfume (and smell)-wise I’ve been wearing Shalimar Parfum Initial quite a lot lately (thanks to Birgit’s sale). I’m also waiting for the air to get fragrant as it’s spring but not much has been happening in that regard. The best I could smell was dewy grass and warm, wet sidewalks (we did have our share of rain lately).

But I know only days from now the air will be fragrant and it will just keep on getting better as spring gets in full bloom.

I’ll finish today with some photos I took on Sunday while at a friend’s barbecue (outside the city).

Croatian design spotlight – Shuz

I only learned about them today (this morning actually) and I love the idea, especially as I love walking in sensible footwear (if I’m going to be walking for more than 20 minutes which is basically every day).

Turns out they are really popular for weddings (brides wear them so they can dance the night away).

It’s great that it all started as a hobby and now, well, it’s a business. πŸ™‚ I’m always glad to hear of a story like that in Croatia because life is not easy here and finding work that fulfills you is even harder.

I’m going to give you links where you can learn more about the collection and follow their lovely work (not much can be found online about the originators, but if I got it correctly, two girls are behind these).

Their site Shuz design.Β And they are both on Facebook and Instagram.

And here are some of my favorites, they come from Lavish Lace, Cruz Shuz and Stripey Stripes categories:

Told you I would talk about bags again. Well, this time it’s not only bags. πŸ˜‰ I love these bracelets/watches as well.

I follow Herman site on FacebookΒ and these are just a little Β of the amazingly wonderful and creative things you can find there. (so go check it out, the designs are really cool)

Croatian design spotlight – Mucca

Yes, I am aware most of my spotlight posts revolve around bags. (And I used to think I wasn’t a bag/shoe type of woman…) πŸ™‚

I am very happy to be able to select bags from such a great pool of beautiful designs (there will be more bag posts).

Anyway, Mucca has a site in English so you can read about them more. Their bags are all about simplicity and there aren’t that many colors and designsΒ to choose from but as I enjoy simple lines, I really like them.

Here are some pictures of bags I like, taken from their Facebook profile:

The only thing I don’t like that much – the price. But can’t say it was a surprise.

Croatian design spotlight – Borboleta

Now that holidays are over, I can try and get back with some kind of regular posts. πŸ˜‰

As I decided on spotlighting some Croatian designers, I actually found many more with interesting ideas and products that are both wearable and look great.

Today I want to feature BorboletaΒ friendship bracelets (they have necklaces as well). Borboleta is Portuguese for butterfly (that’s what they say on their site) and the butterfly is the signature symbol of the brand. The bracelets come in a variety of colorsΒ and are internationally available through their site.

I think they really look lovely and plan on getting one (or possibly two, they look good when combined).

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow!

It seems this year the winter waited a week after officially starting to actually start. albeit, it gets wintery cold here much earlier usually than what the official date is. That said, after the extremely warm weather we had, snow has fallen and the temperature went down.

People hate it when it snows in the city, I, on the other hand, couldn’t be happier. πŸ™‚

It gets more quiet just because snow mufflesΒ the sounds of the city,Β the air smells of winter and snow and you can make snowmen!

So here are some photos of the city today.

Croatian design spotlight – Nohaa

This week we’re back to bags. πŸ™‚ What can I say, I didn’t realize I was such a fan until I started checking out different designers on facebook. πŸ™‚

So this week it’s Nohaa, the bags that really fit my style of look and of life.

The duo behind this line are two friendsΒ Ivica Nola i Rijana HadΕΎiΔ‡ and from experience, they seem to be doing some good business as the waiting ling for a bag is several weeks. πŸ™‚ It makes me happy to know that someone is succeeding in Croatia doing what they love, even though I end up waiting too.

I am now the proud owner of two of them. πŸ™‚
