Epices Precieuses and Hommage
It is easy finding the Memoire Liquide site but it is not easy at all finding any information on their perfumes. The most helpful site was Surrender to Chance and they didn’t have Epices Precieuses listed.
So, I’ll go with that one.
Epices Precieuses, if you go by notes, should work like a charm for me. 🙂 And if I only had the beginning of it, I would have loved it.
Notes: ginger, pink pepper, cinnamon bark, clove buds, nutmeg and cardamom
It starts sweet (I thought of the amber kind) and boozy, lightly spicy and with cinnamon, hinting at some fruit as well. The one that is sweet and can be immersed in alcohol for additional enjoyment. The closest idea in my mind was date. Very soon what I thought was ambery sweetness turns into nutmeg sweetness and the clove also comes out to play. I honestly can’t say that I smelled pink pepper but the spiciness was present in the opening, so I guess it did its part.
It starts losing the sweetness rather quickly but the clove and nutmeg do not lose their place. Soon, some woodiness starts peeping through, and I thought initially if the cinnamon bark could be responsible (bark is wood after all) but I’m thinking there must be something else in there. Here is where I could actually smell the ginger in the background.
And this is pretty much where the development stops and it remains woody and lightly spicy (ginger hints possible).
Hommage
is another thing entirely. The development is pretty much the same as with Epices Precieuses.
Notes: frankincense, myrrhe, amber, musk, sandalwood
It’s probably me, but as I’m very careful with incense (it takes everything over for my nose), I don’t usually like those perfumes.It just so seems that this is the one of those perfumes that reminds me a lot of the smell of Cockta (the local soda drink, containing incense, I checked).
It even smells, in the opening, lightly caramel-like and sparkly. Sweet and incensey at the same time. At some point the sweetness actually reminded me (again) of sticky-fruit type of sweetness but that didn’t last long.
Basically what I get from this is the smell of Cockta. So, deciphering the notes was pretty much beyond me, I got stuck there. 🙂
P.S. It only just occurred to me that the name of Cockta might seem strange to natives speakers of English. 🙂 Is it?

All I am - a redhead 
While the name is a bit funny, the thing that is more strange is that there is a drink with incense flavor! I looked at the website and didn’t see incense mentioned, though they did talk of 11 local Slovenian herbs. I’m so curious about how it tastes!

Odonata, I went to check the website and I see it says the formula is being kept secret. 🙂
It was a couple of years ago I smelled another incense perfume that reminded me of Cockta and then I checked the bottle and what it says about the content on the label – it is there I found that one of the ingredients is indeed incense. Possibly just for the smell…
As for the taste, it’s a Cola type of drink, but with a very specific taste – once you try it, you don’t forget it.
Now, that wasn’t really a good description of taste…

Cocta the name doesn’t sound strange (it reminds me of cocktail), but you say it has incense in it?? Now that **is** unusual. I went to their site and didn’t see the incense mentioned (though I’m not doubting you at all), but was rather intrigued by its blend of eleven herbs and extract of dog rose. So now I’m off to find out what kind of rose “dog rose” is … never heard of it before.
Btw, I couldn’t tell if you liked Hommage. Did the incense play well with you, since it was couched in a sweeter and more sparkly perfume?

Suzanne, I didn’t know it before, but the name actually did come from the word “cocktail”. 🙂
Now that I piqued your curiosity, I know what to bring next time we meet. 😀 I wonder how you might like it. 🙂
As for Hommage, it’s perfectly fine but I wouldn’t want to smell like a beverage in my mind. And living where I do and everyone knows the smell of Cockta, I wonder how many other people would think that too. 🙂

I now have to try Cockta! The strangeness of the name might depend on the pronunciation, too. Is the o an “aw” sound or a long “o” sound?
As for the Memoir Liquide, I guess I thought I had smelled Epices Precieuxes, but the descriptions sounds so wonderful that it makes me think I haven’t. Onto the list it goes.

🙂 Natalie, now you had me pronounce out loud to be able to answer you. It’s basically pronounced with an “o” like you would pronounce the word without the “ta” in the end (the “ta” sounding like “tah”).
Now you know what to try once you’re in Croatia. 😉
