Sorry, couldn’t help myself. 🙂 It’s been a long time since I wrote anything, and well, this post will come with sea photos. 😉
Yes, I’m on vacation. Finally.
I had (still have) time to think about what’s been going on in my life and pondering the reasons why I no longer have the time and/or energy to read and write. Honestly though, I haven’t come to any smart conclusions. Life takes you on a path and before you know it, all that once brought you pleasure as a hobby suddenly no longer fits into the hours in a day. I hate that.
So I spent my first week of vacation basically doing nothing. Just resting from the hectic pace my life is when I go to work.
I sleep a lot, go for a swim, do some yoga and pilates and read. I’m just doing things I enjoy and that bring me relaxation and hopefully, one of these relaxed days I will have an epiphany and realize how to make time in my routine for things that make me happy and relaxed.
Because when I’m happy and relaxed, nice things happen to me. Like talking to a neighbor and discovering a new perfume gem I now covet.
Cartier’s La Panthere.
I was so surprised to find myself enjoying a perfume I thought was for older ladies. 😀 Oh, well, I’m the first to admit I’m prejudiced.
Anyway, I hope to do a review sometime in the near future. So far, I can only say that after reading the notes, I am no longer surprised I fell for it. There is gardenia hidden in its heart. 🙂
And to leave you now with typical Smokvica sights:
It took much longer than I expected to get this post published. Ever since I got back from vacation, life was hectic and time to spare wasn’t to be found anywhere. Rovinj is beautiful. I kept taking photos from every possible side (they are not all here). 🙂

From my vacation and basically all I can say is – it’s been amazing! 🙂
I’ve had the best vacation ever (at least that I can remember at the moment).
Copenhagen was amazing, the Danes are really such nice, warm, smiling people even though their country is very expensive. But I loved every second of it, especially the time I got to spend with wonderfully nice Asali (chatting about life, perfumes and everything we could think of).
The island of Vis is really the place where unexpected happens in the best of ways. I’ll be seeing that island again.
Also, very little sleep happens there. 😉
And last but not least, the place where you go to rest, Smokvica with friends one considers family.
My mind is relaxed, I am happy and life has been good to me.
To be continued with a short travelogue of all these places…
That last will never be applied to me. Not only do I not think of myself in divine terms, but bronze is also a word that people would never apply while looking at me. I actually got asked (this year again) if I even went to a vacation, considering the amount of tan I got.
I do get tanned but compared to most people here, I’m still fair skinned.
So this where Bronze Goddess comes into play. It is my go-to vacation scent. I should also remember that for next year’s packing as there is no need to bring a whole bunch of decants when all I’ll be wearing is BG.
But I don’t recommend wearing it to work which is what I did one day when the weather was extremely hot and I was wishfully thinking of the vacation to come – a colleague was sniffing around our room asking who’s wearing sunscreen? 🙂
You’ve been warned.
Now the vacation is over, Bronze Goddess is back to its place to be forgotten until the next summer vacation.
And if you are ready for some wistfulness with me, here are two photos to help you with that:
My vacation started this week and when I arrived, it became obvious that my internet connection is a bit unsatisfactory. 🙂
It’s there but it’s so slow and not really dependable that it seems now even if I wanted to blog during my vacation (I always think I would but it’s usually the opposite), it will be a rather unnerving process for me so I might not indulge in it often.
I do plan on writing down my ideas so when I come back to Zagreb, I have many posts in the making.
In the meantime, I’ll leave you with some of the photos I took while here:
My usual place on the beach:
I’m learning how to make granola for breakfast (it tastes much better than one would expect):
And general view from my place on the coast:
I’m practically bursting to announce this to everyone – I’m going to Paris! 😀
In 3 weeks and 2 days no less – for a 3-day weekend but any amount of time in Paris is fine with me.
And all this is thanks to Asali who convinced me it’s no point in delaying these kinds of things, who will be there at the same time so I’ll meet up with her, and who obviously knows when is the right time to prompt people into such undertakings as I found a return plane ticket for quite a reasonable amount of money (and a wonderful hotel to stay in too, at least it seems so from their site).
I’ll be sure to take a lot of photos and describe in detail the fun everyone will have. 🙂
Until then, some pics from the last time I was there:
Just a quick word before I leave for a week of sun in the (I hope sun) but on snow definitely.
I hope everyone has a productive week of sniffing and discovering new loves, and hopefully, there won’t be that many posts to read once I’m back but since I will be de-stressed, happy and full of energy, I won’t mind one little bit even if that will be the case.
I will be back on Monday 15, probably with photos and my musings on how the scents I’m taking with me performed in the snow and while skiing. I sincerely hope that it’s not going to be a week where I’m lazy enough not to put anything on and just let my scentful hobby disappear. I really want to see how it’s going to work out.
So, have a great week (I know I will) and read you soon!
I thought this day would never come. 🙂 Finally, 3 weeks of sun and sea. And after the week I had, all I can say is, I deserve it. I worked real hard these past 10 days (including the weekend) and now I can leave without any worries. Including the one when is my sister going to give birth to my second nephew. 🙂 I’m proud to say that yesterday I became an aunt for the second time, my little nephew is 3550 g and 52 cm. Can’t wait to see him later today (and my sister as well, the birth didn’t go all that well, but she’s getting better).
I so wanted to talk about a perfume today but I just didn’t manage the time to sniff anything (that’s how busy I was). I’m happy to say that I got the Boadicea Lucky scent sample pack and I’m taking it with me to be perused sometime in the next 3 weeks. Along with some other samples lying about on my desk.
What I did manage to do is gather books I plan on taking and now it seems I should cut back a bit on those since there are some 25 of them (and that’s more than the days I’ll be on vacation) – I like to read but I’m not that fast and I don’t really need so much choice. I think I’ll leave with 20 – it’s only me and my boyfriend, so there’s enough space. 🙂 I can already see him clutching his head in shock. 🙂 Happens every time.
One of the samples I sprayed on today after reading all the reviews – EL Jasmine White moss, and what can I say? It’s nice and wearable and if I had it, I’d definitely put it on, but my knees do not go weak like after smelling Amoureuse (that’s definitely a discovery) and if you want to know more about JWM, there are some great reviews at Grain de musc
and Perfume smelling things
Btw, I always thought summer was a dead season, but there seem to be giveaways wherever you turn. I do hope I win some. 🙂 Eternal optimist.
I wish you all a great summer (what’s left of it) and I hope when I’m back I’ll have a lot to talk about (in terms of both books and perfume) with some summer photos.
