The best part

The best part of this perfume love of mine (probably other people’s as well) is coming home to packages waiting there. 🙂

That’s what happened today.

I got the package from Carol that contained some vintage gems that I am still too excited to write about so here is a quick photo:

The one in the middle is the one that started it all and my quick first sniff told me that I will fall in love (it already started). This has really made my day which I don’t want to go into detail but was seriously depressing as will the next few weeks be as well.

The second package came from Switzerland as an MUA swap. But was this swapper generous! Thank you Jindra!

I was swapping for 10 ml of Palais Jamais and I ended up with a little bottle of vintage L’Aimant and a bunch of samples and candies:

I really feel bad now because I only put a few samples in her package. 😦 I will make it up to her next time (we already swapped before).

So tomorrow is Palais Jamais day for me. But tonight it’s party with Carol’s bottles!

Swapping is so much fun!

I’m a bit late but it took some time to deal with the photos. Yesterday I came home to find 3 packages waiting for me through swapping. The strange thing though is that they were all shipped at different times so I don’t even want to start thinking what do the people in post office do with our packages (I received one some time ago with a shoe imprint on it!).

The first one was from Germany with some Arabian oils I am trying to get to know and a new Italian house for me (and I still don’t know the name – I’m just lousy with new names).

The second one, a more interesting from my perspective because there was some Ava Luxe, DSH, Roja Dove (which unfortunately arrived broken – maybe someone stepped on this one too?) and Van Cleef and Arpels from Canada.

And the last one, which probably seems like the smallest and containing nothing of any interest but you would be very wrong. Because two of the smallest vials contain precious (and by that I mean extremely expensive) drops of 2 Amouage attars (Homage and Al Mas).
Thanks to Susan from USA.

Btw, I really like the word attar, it connotes many things for me without me even knowing what exactly does it mean. 🙂 So I did look it up today and got some basic knowledge on the subject. Just enough to understand that attar does not correlate to smelling oudish (which is what I somehow thought).

This was just a quick post, I cannot tell you how much I am looking forward to smelling those attars (everything else as well, but attars are at the top).
Pictures are mine.

End of the week

This has been a really hectic and tiresome week for me and the fact that is almost impossible breathing outside (due to heat and humidity) didn’t help at all. Thank god there’s AC. 🙂

Just two more weeks and I won’t have to rant about working and heat, I’ll be enjoying myself – swimming, reading and sun bathing in the amount my skin allows. That’s not much though. 🙂

Today I was wondering, do perfume samples produce sample children? Because I decided to clear out my drawer at work where I put all those samples I plan on sniffing and didn’t have time at home, and it seems that in the last month or so, those work samples grew to quite a number. I’m not mentioning the ones at home. They probably already have grandchildren. 😉 I got asked by a colleague who saw me putting them away if I sell perfume. 🙂 What ever gave him that idea?

The other day we were discussing swapping and I was explaining all the possibilites there are (swapping, splitting and buying online) when my boyfriend came out with: are you telling me there are not enough perfumes in Zagreb that you can find to your liking? Hell, no. How exactly do you explain to someone your growing love for SL creations? And the fact that most of those are only sold in Paris (or online) and no, there is not something similar in all those Zagreb stores carrying the same brands everywhere. Lately, I just avoid those conversations, let people think I’m odd swapping with the world and contemplating my next perfume purchase.

I concluded this morning that life is fun (beautiful and fun was the end conclusion) and that is how I am going to approach it from now on all the time. For example, it’s funny how I said I am not going to buy any bottles until after the summer, and I sort of ended up with an ordered package from Rei Rien. And day after that I discovered I want a bottle of Cristalle (that’s still unbought, but considering what I wrote two lines before, it probably won’t stay like that for long).

Ok, I pretty much just rambled today but my brain can do no better today. I’m looking forward to a weekend of resting with a book or two. 🙂

P.S. I reserved my tickets for Harry Potter on the first day of showing here!! Yeeey for me! 🙂
