My summer perfume staples

During the last few years, several perfumes have come into myย summer rotation and stayed there. ๐Ÿ™‚ Of course, I don’t use only these, but these are the ones I use the most.

For the beach

Bronze Goddess – ever since it came out, it’s been in my rotation, along with the body oil that comes with it.

For work (when it’s not too hot)

Vamp a NY – ย I find it a perfect combination of flirty but nice and very likeable (many people have commented on it smelling great)

For hot days when almost nothing worksย

Eau de Cartier – which as probably everyone knows is the perfume equivalent of Gin and tonic (with lots of ice if you ask me)

and Pamplelune – with its zesty refreshing feel

For balmy evenings

Guerlain Mahora – well, I’ve been applying this for those evenings when I’m going out. Seductive and velvety. Perfect!

(I linked to Kafka’s review of it – I really enjoyed it and have no review of my own – shame on me)

So tell me what are your summer staples? I am always open to adding to my list, especially if you have more cooling choices.

By what I smelled lately (or read about), Nuit Andalouse, Cologne du Maghreb and Terracotta le Parfumย might be joining the list…

The heat has hit – my cooling choices

We’ve been having a real heat wave the last few days (ok, today is an exception but it won’t last).

So, I wanted to share the perfume that work for me when it’s so hot outside I need a perfume to cool me off.

My latest cooling discovery is Jardin du Poete by Eau d’Italie and I decided not to fight it anymore. ๐Ÿ™‚ It should arrive at Flores by the end of the month so I’ll be giving one bottle a loving home.  and if the heat persists quite a lot of sprays.

There’s already been much talk of Guerlain’s  Vetiver (the masculine one). My boyfriend hates it, but I love it.
Here is a review from Perfume Shrine where both masculine and feminine versions are discussed.

One of the things I keep forgetting I have and forgetting I like amid everything else is Eau de Cartier. It’s a little sparkling gem that refreshes like the gin and tonic many compare it to.

Aqua Allegoria Pamplelune – Well, I have only a little bit left of this wonderful grapefruit scent and I really need a bottle of it but it doesn’t seem to be available here (or maybe I’m not looking right).
This seems to be a hit and miss as grapefruit is such a note.

Charmes et Feuilles by The Different Company has become a staple for me from spring all through summer. What better to cool you off but some mint?

And the last one, Mona di Orio Lux, the one that feels best in the languid heat of the evening as it doesn’t put a freshness into your step but instead make you enjoy yourself languidly in the evening.

Please, if you have some ideas of your own, I can always use more diversity and coolness in my perfume collection. ๐Ÿ™‚

Pic is mine and that would work great in the way of cooling as well. ๐Ÿ™‚

Quickly before I leave

Finally the long weekend I’ve been waiting for has arrived. Tomorrow is Corpus Christi day and Croatia being a Catholic country, it is a state holiday. Anyway, nobody is going to work on Friday and it’s going to be a mass exodus today. ๐Ÿ™‚ The forecast is perfect, the sea temperature has gone over 20 degrees Celsius, so I expect 4 days of reading, swimming and a bit of sunbathing (not much for me I’m afraid).

Before I go, I wanted to write about re-discovering my old time favourite, Eau de Cartier. I had a little bit left in my bottle and every time I smelled it to see if I was going to apply it or not, I stopped after smelling the bitter green opening. I always thought the opening smelled like a parsley-celery-earthy-slightly lemon peel bitter thingy. I’ve read that some think it opens like a gin and tonic smell which is somewhat true if you consider that tonic has all this herbaceous notes. Anyway, it gives freshness and cool to my summer days. And I bought a new bottle yesterday since Martimex has 30% discount on their fragrances. Just lovely. ๐Ÿ™‚

While I was there, I tried the new Versace – Versense. Terribly funny! It makes sense only if you want to smell like your laundry while you’re ironing it and can smell the softener and humidity all rolled into one. I couldn’t believe, but that’s what it smells like. And you get some fruit in the opening. ๐Ÿ™‚

Notes Eau de Cartier: yuzu, bergamot, leaves, flowers, musc, lavender, amber, patchouli, cedarwood.

Notes Versense:
Top Notes: bergamot and green mandarin, with fresh and luminous accords with fig zests, citruses with fruity aromas.
Heart Notes: sea lily, with jasmine petals, cardamom.
Base Notes: woody accords of sandalwood, cedar, olive wood and musk.
Picture: the view from the terrace. ๐Ÿ™‚

Anyway, I hope everyone will enjoy their weekend whether it’s a long one or not and I’m back on Monday.
