Profumo di Rovigno

I would have been a very bad perfumista if, when possible, I wouldn’t had visited the only different perfume shop in town where I was staying. In Rovinj, it was a little shop called Profumo di Rovigno where I spent more money than I expected, all thanks to the lovely owner and her products.

There are only two perfumes, the woman and man variant of Profumo di Rovigno and I admit that the woman version is a really nice floral. It contains the synthetic musks I have a problem with, but I still liked it a lot and thought is was extremely reasonably priced for the perfume you got (it’s been a while but I think it was around 30 Euros for 100ml).

The things I bought were a home perfume with the note of oud – La Notte di S. Lorenzo, a herbal/floral refreshing water Aqua di Rovigno and several soaps. There is something for everyone in that shop, I dare you go there and leave empty-handed. 😉

I thouroughly enjoyed my experience and almost succumbed to the amazingly beautifl silk scarves they have (that would be the only reason to advise anyone to not go there – they might succumb to silky temptation).

Still, if you’re ever in Rovinj, go visit the store, it’s definitely a place to see and smell and enjoy your senses, both scentual and sensual.

You can check more of what they have on offer on their site.

Croatian design spotlight – Mara D

I only learned about the brand a few days ago and I was amazed by the design of the shoes.

There aren’t that many designs available but they are all done by hand out of Italian leather and seem so cool.

I mean, I can always admire high heels even though in everyday life I stick to reasonable shoes (i.e. those I can walk in all day long).

You can follow them on Facebook or check their site (don’t look at prices though).

Some of my favorites:

God, how I wish I was someone who can buy and wear these shoes…

Croatian design spotlight – Shuz

I only learned about them today (this morning actually) and I love the idea, especially as I love walking in sensible footwear (if I’m going to be walking for more than 20 minutes which is basically every day).

Turns out they are really popular for weddings (brides wear them so they can dance the night away).

It’s great that it all started as a hobby and now, well, it’s a business. 🙂 I’m always glad to hear of a story like that in Croatia because life is not easy here and finding work that fulfills you is even harder.

I’m going to give you links where you can learn more about the collection and follow their lovely work (not much can be found online about the originators, but if I got it correctly, two girls are behind these).

Their site Shuz design. And they are both on Facebook and Instagram.

And here are some of my favorites, they come from Lavish Lace, Cruz Shuz and Stripey Stripes categories:

Told you I would talk about bags again. Well, this time it’s not only bags. 😉 I love these bracelets/watches as well.

I follow Herman site on Facebook and these are just a little  of the amazingly wonderful and creative things you can find there. (so go check it out, the designs are really cool)

Croatian design spotlight – Mucca

Yes, I am aware most of my spotlight posts revolve around bags. (And I used to think I wasn’t a bag/shoe type of woman…) 🙂

I am very happy to be able to select bags from such a great pool of beautiful designs (there will be more bag posts).

Anyway, Mucca has a site in English so you can read about them more. Their bags are all about simplicity and there aren’t that many colors and designs to choose from but as I enjoy simple lines, I really like them.

Here are some pictures of bags I like, taken from their Facebook profile:

The only thing I don’t like that much – the price. But can’t say it was a surprise.

Croatian design spotlight – Borboleta

Now that holidays are over, I can try and get back with some kind of regular posts. 😉

As I decided on spotlighting some Croatian designers, I actually found many more with interesting ideas and products that are both wearable and look great.

Today I want to feature Borboleta friendship bracelets (they have necklaces as well). Borboleta is Portuguese for butterfly (that’s what they say on their site) and the butterfly is the signature symbol of the brand. The bracelets come in a variety of colors and are internationally available through their site.

I think they really look lovely and plan on getting one (or possibly two, they look good when combined).

Croatian design spotlight – Nohaa

This week we’re back to bags. 🙂 What can I say, I didn’t realize I was such a fan until I started checking out different designers on facebook. 🙂

So this week it’s Nohaa, the bags that really fit my style of look and of life.

The duo behind this line are two friends Ivica Nola i Rijana Hadžić and from experience, they seem to be doing some good business as the waiting ling for a bag is several weeks. 🙂 It makes me happy to know that someone is succeeding in Croatia doing what they love, even though I end up waiting too.

I am now the proud owner of two of them. 🙂

Croatian design spotlight – Zoe Leggings

This week I decided to show you my favorite Croatian leggings. I own 4 pairs. 😀

That said, until I actually bought some, I never realized how hard it was to actually fit them into a wardrobe. 🙂

Still, I love wearing them and I love that the new collection features a new warm material (thermo) for these cold days.

Here are some photos of the type of leggings Tamara Ivić creates (and mine are shown as well).

Croatian design spotlight – Danijela Bilic

I know it’s been long since I wrote a post and I am really working on getting my schedule in order so I can write (and smell) more often.
In the meantime, I want to share with you some of the Croatian designers I discovered in the last months (some even years) that I think do a wonderful job with addition that their stuff is actually affordable to most people.
I also admire them for the fact that they decided to follow their passion. I sometimes wonder if something is wrong with me that I have general interests but don’t feel so passionate about any of them (I’m blaming it all on being an Aquarius).

So today, my first choice is Danijela Bilic who creates absolutely wonderful bags. Her designs can be found on Facebook and I am posting some of my favorite designs here (those among which I cannot decide). 🙂

The idea behind the bags is to wear a little piece of art and well, I can completely see that. The size of most of the bags is around 30 cm in diameter and they are made of artificial leather. The size seems perfect and all bags are handmade by Danijela herself.

The whole idea started with Danijela making a bag for her sister (that’s what she wrote in one of the posts on Facebook) and after receiving great feedback, a collection started to form. All this happened some 4 years ago and I’m ashamed to admit that I only found out about the bags a month ago. 🙂

Well, better late than never. 😉

So, go check out her whole collection and see if you could decide which one you like the best.

P.S.I love the look of Twilight but for a change, I’d like a bag that isn’t black so now I’m having a hard time deciding which color to choose.

There is time until my birthday yet… 😉
