My New year’s resolutions

(not that they usually do me any good, I just basically follow my own way 😉 )

But, I woke up today with all the possibilities for this year clear in my head and with a strong urge to make them happen. Who knows, maybe now when I write them down, some of them actually happen. 🙂 I.E. I make them happen. 😉

1. Write more. Especially about perfume (there are many great perfumes I’ve tried lately that I want to write about).

2. Get organized – I have this feeling that if I get my different parts of my life better organized, it would make me faster when doing something and less stressed when I’m in a hurry

3. De-clutter all aspects of my life. I really feel I have too much stuff. Yes, I love shopping (I’m a true consumerist) but I would enjoy my stuff more if it didn’t get lost among all other stuff. 🙂

4. Figure out what is it that I want to do. Really want to do.

5. Do more yoga. Or pilates. It goes extremely well with running. And does wonders for my lower back.

6. Relax. I’m a really tense person who wants everything right now. I realized I have a problem enjoying the moment so I want to learn how to do that. Or just be more aware of it so I can enjoy life more. There’s no hurry. 😉

7. Keep on running. Ok, that’s nothing new but running helps me in so many ways that I just want to keep on doing it.

    Okay so I’m total bore since I got back from my retreat but one of the many things I learnt is that stating a goal isn’t enough, you have to state a specific habit and when you’ll do it, to get you there. E.g. “I will spend 10 minutes at the start of every day getting organised”, “I will spend an hour each Sunday morning de-cluttering”, “I will write about perfume every Saturday afternoon” etc. That way you are making success inevitable rather than hoping it will just magically happen at some point.

      I agree completely. 🙂 Nothing happens unless it becomes a habit. Hopefully, I’ll be able to do that. I mean, I already managed to put some in place, it’s just that lately life (i.e. work) made me get out of all of them. New year, new habits. 😉

    May I suggest moving #6 to the first spot? Everything else will come easier if you can persuade yourself to relax and enjoy life (I should try doing it as well 😉 ).

    We seem to have similar goals this year. Good luck with yours! I’ve been trying to declutter. It’s hard because I know as soon as I get rid of something I’ll be looking for it in a week or so. It never fails. I’m also hoping to get back to yoga. You think it would be easy since it makes you feel so amazing. Yet I still manage to not find time for it.

      Exactly! You’d think 20 minutes of yoga could be part of your daily routine because it’s only 20 minutes and it makes you feel so much better, but no. 🙂 It’s like someone asks you to go run a marathon.
      As for decluttering, I have the same fear. I’m still going to do it though.
      I just realized I’m missing an important resolution – to be brave. 🙂

    Being brave is a great one, and a goal am also working on. I recently got caught up in a planning matter relating to the house next door and though it has ended okay for now, I realise I must be brave and speak up if my neighbour does things in future that I don’t think are – well, neighbourly.

    And I like your other goals too. I took up running before Christmas – did 7 jogs, but then constant rain and sub zero temperatures have stopped me doing any more in the past week or two But as soon as the temperature hits 8C I have vowed to go out again. There, being specific, as Tara said we should be!

    I did declutter quite a lot in the summer, and could do with keeping that up and tackling other areas of the house. It is quite therapeutic, I agree, and I haven’t missed stuff yet…

      Speaking up is one of the ‘brave’ things I must learn. That one is really difficult for me.
      I need to re-start my running, I now had a month off (I always do during winter), but I have a half-marathon at the end of February, so it’s high time to start. Plus, it will do me good. 😉
      And de-cluttering is great! If you can do it… 😉
