Quick perfume thoughts

After quite a long time, I finally got to see some of my perfume friends and we shared what we have acquired lately that each of us might like to try (I didn’t have much though).

So, here is what I remembered from the quick sniffs I took today:

Piguet Knightsbridge – a lovely, boozy, warm perfume for colder days, it really hit all my boozy-vanilla-amber buttons 😉

Amouage Opus IX – in the beginning it’s a monstrously dirty jasmine/something (and dirty coming from me is really something), 2 hours later it smells like a slightly bitter floral, rather nice

Mugler Cuir Impertinent – the surprise of the meeting (at least for me) – a really wearable light leathery smell with a rather green-herbal opening and undertones of Angel, I can see myself wearing it easily

Odori Iris – nice feminine iris with no big projection, actually a rather soft and elegant feel

MFK  Oud – well, it’s anything but oud if you ask me (at least what I’m used to when it comes to oud), and if you take it like that, a rather nice perfume that works as edc just fine

TDC I miss Violet – also a perfume without much projection but with a soft side and easy smile. I had a bit trouble smelling it in the beginning as it was so light but later I got the lovely violet tones (and I get light fruitiness in the drydown)

There were also the Zoologist perfumes: Beaver, Panda and Rhinoceros and I am honestly pleasantly surprised how much I liked them.

I enjoyed reading this- it was quick and to the point and was like a little taster of what to expect if I ever come across these.

Thank you. I couldn’t give them much time (and energy) but I still wanted to write about them. 🙂

Nice to hear you got together with ‘fumie friends, Ines. How fun to share what you have.
I really want to try I miss Violet, even if it is quiet.

The Zoologists are totally fun. If you get the chance, try them.
I miss Violet is rather easily likeable, let me know how you find it once you try it.

I’m intrigued, truly! Though given my moratorium on new samples, and that I have stalled in my sampling of stash samples, it will be awhile.

If a sample lands in my lap, I’ll send it over. 🙂 (not that Amouage samples land in my lap) 😉

You reminded me I really want to try Mugler Les Exceptions, but they are impossible to come by here. I had kind of given up on Piguet, but Knightsbridge sounds nice. Funny it’s getting warm outside, and her am I craving musk and animalic perfumes 🙂

Well, animalic somehow seems to work in the heat. At least sometimes it does for me. I’d like to try the other Les Exceptions too, if this one is an example of what to expect.

Always lovely to share and sniff things with friends. I am interested by the sound of Knightsbridge, assuming it has the right kind of booze for me, as alcohol in perfume (you know, *that* alcohol!) can be tricky. The iris one also caught my attention – not so much the Amouage, haha, though I did like Bogue MAAI.

I tried Maai as well and Cologne Reloaded but not on skin. I really liked the Cologne Reloaded only to learn it’s been discontinued?!

This is nice to hear, Ines – is this the group of fragrance friends that got together for Maurice Roucel’s visit to your city last year?

Of the perfumes you mention, I Miss Violet is the one that intrigues. I really enjoy that note and softer perfumes have really been appealing to me this year.

Yes, not all who were for the Roucel visit but most. 🙂
I think you would like I miss Violet. 🙂 And I would love a sniffing occasion with you again. 😉

Gosh, I would love that, too. Well, I will start saving up for a future trip to Europe and hopefully we can meet up somewhere in a year or two? ❤

I’m in a desperate need of a “group sniff”! Unfortunately, I do not have anybody around with whom I could do that. The closest occasion will be in September when Valerie (CQ) comes for a visit.

I haven’t tried any of those you’ve mentioned but I’m really interested only in Amouage – though from your description I don’t think I’ll like it 😉

I was desperate for it too without even realizing it.
Those are the best kind of meetings because hearing other people’s perspective on a perfume helps with getting to know it better.
