Not to say that I’m contemplating what perfumes I’m going to wear around Christmas but I feel this very strong need to wear some of those evoking Christmas time – now. 🙂
It’s dark, cold and frosty outside and I can’t help but want warm, spicy, Christmasy fragrant perfumes wafting around me.
And of course, when I realized that is what I wanted, I also realized I don’t have that many ideas on the topic.
Here are those that came to mind (you will probably notice they are all by a single perfumer):
Piment et Chocolat – spicy and warm, lightly chocolatey
Festive – evoking fir trees and fun in the warmth of a fire
Nourouz – smelling of juicy pomegranate and holiday warmth
Gingembre – I could use the smell of baking cookies
I could also include Sienna, smelling very cinnamony, and Cimabue smelling clove-y.
Ok, so these are the ideas I had but I would like to enlarge my choices if possible, so please, ideas and suggestions are very much welcome.
You can tell from my choices what I would generally like in my Christmas perfumes but I would love to hear what are your associations when it comes to perfumes that evoke Christmas for you.

Strangely, Frederic Malle Bigarade Concentrée makes me think of christmas, because we always got an orange in the toe of our stockings.

Festive to me smells very much like a pomade. which we always find around our stores at Christmas time. Lots of clove and orange.

Sushi Imperiale, of course. Tapdancy snow and sparkles.Une Crime Exotique. The smell of pfeffernusse.Cadjmere is one of my favorite winter perfumes – fur and coconut and cream – but I don't think of it specifically as being for Christmas.

Hmm, smells good over here! :)I love Un Crime Exotique like Chicken Freak, and SL Rousse, Amouage Opus IV smells somehow Christmas-y too t me.But what I will probably wear on Christmas Day is Puredistance I, my festive beauty.P.S. the DSH perfumes are all amazing, aren't they? Winter White is such a comforting beauty too.

Thank CF. Cadjmere is a lovely winter scent but not so much Christmasy to me.I need to re-visit Sushi Imperiale – and I don't know how Une Crime Exotique smells like, so something new to look for! 🙂

Olfactoria, Winter white is great too. 🙂 Rousse is a good idea, and I don't know how Opus IV smells like. I get lost in perfumes that have a single name and the numbers with them. 🙂 There is just no way for me to remember what each number smells like.I see UCE is your choice too… Hmmm, how come I never tried that…?

All your choices sound great, Ines, but Piment and Chocolat sounds particularly wonderful. I associate Ambre Narguile with Christmas. I think it's the cosy sweetness, fruit, spice and touch of alcohol that does it.Tara (can't sign in!)

I'm getting into the holiday spirit with this post – thanks Ines!!I think I'm going to drench myself with Tauer's Une Rose Vermeille and CdG's Ouarzazate (which oddly I find the best of the incense ones, even though I love Avignon and Heely Cardinal, this one is the most lovely and wearable)

I have been giving this a lot of thought, and the truth is that I have yet to find a fragrance which truly reminds me of Christmas. Until then Rousse and Winter Delice will do nicely. I hope to someday get to try a vintage Nuit de Noel(for which I have high hopes), and will keep sniffing, which is good too, afterall:-)

Ines, candle-like fragrances usually make me feel Christmasy. I love a dab or two of Regina Harris Frankincense-Myrhh-Rose Maroc oil, which in addition to the incense and resins, smells like beeswax. Someone once sent me a sample and it's so concentrated it'll last me forever. Also I love the scent of bayberry candles and Sonoma Scent Studio Champagne de Bois smells like that to me.

I still haven't found a perfume which reminds me of my traditional Christmas days.I know the perfumes I like to wear that days (Nombril Immense, Allure EDP, Kenzo Amour le Parfum, Kilian Back to Black…), but they don't smell like Christmas at all.The scent of Christmas in my family is basically cinnamon, dried fruits, marzipan, chocolate, turkey, seafood…I'd love to scent my home with candles that last. There are lots which smell wonderful… until you light them. Then nothing.

Bloody Frida, I see incense is a regular choice for Christmas.I wonder if that's because of mass or is there another reason…As I'm not a fan of the church incense, I keep not trying many incense perfumes even though most of those I tried, I liked.

Asali, sometimes I really feel the search we are in (in my case) always is better than the actual find. :)I have so many great perfumes at home but each morning when I try to decide, almost nothing ever feels right – I want more novelty. (I seem to be very hard to please sometimes)At least we have a good motivation for Paris now – I'll keep asking SAs for ideas. 🙂

Isa, thank you for commenting. the scents you mention are those that are common in my home as well – together with the smell of real Christmas tree (which would be a pine tree).And speaking of candles, I resorted to lighting tea lights and putting some cinnamon and clove oil into the melted wax around the wick. I should add some citrus too, now I think of it. 🙂

Hello,How lovely to start thinking of Christmassy scents. Two that put me in the Christmas way of thinking are Frapin Caravelle Epicee and Ginestet Botrytis. People often seem to say that the latter is an autumn scent but to me the scent of honey and sweet wine evokes Christmas boozy and sweet treats.

Hi Christine, thank you for the suggestions. :)I adore Caravelle Epicee but I somehow don't use it as I'm trying to save it (which sounds very stupid now I wrote it down). 🙂 I'll wear it tomorrow and see of it transmits some Christmas feeling.I've been considering Botrytis, especially since Tara reminded me of it in her post, boozy and sweet is a good choice for Christmas. 🙂

Sorry, I'm late but I do not do anything Christmas-related until after Thanksgiving. Now, when a turkey is eaten, I'm ready to start winter holidays.I have no suggestions as to perfumes to wear because for winter holidays I just plan to wear my favorite winter perfumes (and will probably get new favorites into my collection) but nothing specific for XMas or NY because I do not want to smell like any of those scents that come to mind when I think of those holidays. What I do crave this season – a pine/fir candle.

Thanks for chiming in Undina, you're not late.As we don't have Thanksgiving, I start thinking about Christmas as soon as the weather turns cold or if it's not cold yet, with the beginning of Advent.Do you have any fir candles to recommend? I'm all for any type of Christmasy fumes.

I like Serge Lutens Arabie for Christmas. It smells like gingerbread and nutmeg and whiskey, and anything else someone could conceivably celebrate with. 🙂
